YOUR VOTE = YOUR VOICE

Why The Community Trusts Phyllis Smith

As your city commissioner from 2007 to 2020, I have worked to enact several changes to help better the community.

Voted To Bring Our Water Plant Back

Outsourcing the North Miami Beach Water Plant was a costly mistake for North Miami Beach. As your commissioner, I voted to bring the water plant back under control of the City of North Miami Beach. This change improved water quality and saved taxpayers millions of dollars.

Voted for Police In Every School

The safety of our children is a top priority and while I was a sitting commissioner, I voted to ensure that there was a trained and qualified police officer in every school within North Miami Beach.

Voted for Multiple Police Improvements

Our Police Officers are charged with the important responsibility of keeping our city safe. As your commissioner, I have voted to update aging equipment that our police officers rely on and to fund the purchase of body cameras.

Voted to Lower Your Taxes

As a sitting commissioner, I enacted several fiscally responsible policies to ensure that your tax dollars were wisely spent and reduced wasteful spending. These reductions were passed along to the residents of North Miami Beach in the form of Lower Taxes.

Why I Am Running
IMG_20220829_200520
Why run for NMB City Commissioner after serving the community from 2007-2020 in that position? There are so many factors to consider but having been a resident for over 52 years, I can not simply turn away from the community that has afforded me my successful business and helped me raise my two wonderful children. Below are my top ten:

1) The overwhelming calls from the community imploring me to come back and turn our city into a city they can be proud of again
2) To save our parks - use our green spaces wisely for the betterment of our community.
3) Pay attention to the needs of our local businesses, the backbone of a thriving and healthy community
4) Investigate why our garbage costs a million dollars more with less efficient service
5) Make sure any additional $$$'s the city has is distributed throughout the whole city to ALL residents
6) Return A.C.T.  - Accurate, Complete, and Transparency to the community from City Hall
7) Put forth much more effort to beautify and update North Miami Beach
8) Make sure the diversity of our community comes together as one
9) Take care of our police and employees, remembering they take care of us
10) To do everything I can to get North Miami Beach's good reputation back!

In my opinion, there is a lot more that needs review, changes, and accomplishments!!
There is much to be done - I am grateful that I have the ability, time, and desire to get back to work for you!!
With your support, your vote, your voice - we will see positive change for North Miami Beach. Share this website with your neighbors, friends, and co-workers that want a brighter future for NMB.
Thank you,
Phyllis
